The Economy and Entertainment

Almost everyday I talk to someone who says the current economy is really affecting their business. Last week one of my best corporate clients "downsized". My contact told me that the huge event that I do every year is in jeopardy of being canceled or at least scaled back.

I assured him that I understood. I agreed that we are living in a time when people are having to make tough decisions. Then I reminded him how much fun the employees have each year. I brought up a couple of things that happened at the last party. We laughed at some of the things that have taken place over the last 8 years at this event. He admitted that this one event really brought the company together and created team bonding and a positive atmosphere for the upcoming year. It also served as a cap to the previous year and allowed employees to celebrate their success.

At the end of our conversation he told me that they will do whatever they can to make sure this event is not cut. It was funny....I didn't even try to SELL him on my services. Or did I?

At a time when people are cutting back I find that I am WORKING HARDER to set myself aside from the rest. Don't let the economy dictate how you lead your life. Make things happen. Make it a great day.
